Key traits: Analog, raw, practical, authentic
Skeltch is a contemporary stationery brand built on the raw, tactile beauty of analog tools. Skeltch creates premium notebooks for purists. They believe in the power of pen on paper and strictly commit to real human artistry. As far as my logo thought process, a strong, thick serif font signals luxury, quality, and classic heritage. The lowercase letters create a warmth and friendliness to counteract any imposing authoritativeness that the thick serif font might signal. An all-caps sans-serif tagline sits in juxtaposition to the business name, creating interest and balance. I created a custom raw paper edge on the stems of the k, l, and h. This is a playful, tactile, subtle nod to the stationery industry. Overall, I feel I created a logo suite that is a slightly paradoxical, raw yet luxurious brand identity with a deliberate, subtle tactile feel.
